What Jessie Did Next...

...being the inane ramblings of a mundane Yorkshire bird.

Paramount confirmed late yesterday that Star Trek XI’s release date will be Christmas Day 2008, with JJ Abrams (he of the recent Mission Impossible 3 film, Lost and Alias) in the director’s chair.

Rumour redux: prequel (rumour reinforced by the spoiler poster) and no cast announced yet (but plenty of talk about Matt Damon doing Kirk and Adrien Brody as Spock).

I really hope they don’t fuck it up.

  1. Star Trek XI?!

I didn’t even know there was a Star Trek VII. How the hell have I missed four movies…?

  2. 7 thru 10 didn’t have ‘numbers’ to speak of, and starred the Next Gen cast, so it’s understandable how you might have missed them. Of the four films, only one was really successful at the box office (‘First Contact’) and got reasonable press.

The franchise is pretty fucked anyway, and has been milked to death. Even coming from moi, a staunch Trekker, I think it’s too soon for this film.

I’ll still go see it, like…
